Genius’ Planet School gives us the opportunity to meet the challenge of creating a learning environment which provides enough stimuli to spark a sense of inquiry, exploration, expression, assimilation and recapitulation among children. The following elements are incorporated within our time table to ensure a holistic learning experience on a daily basis.
Circle Time
Circle Time is an international best practice, integral to our curriculum, which serves as a great tool for the social and emotional development of children. It helps induce in students the key skills of; thinking, observing, concentrating, listening and speaking. At Genius’ Planet School, the Circle Time activities are designed to engage all children in small group conversations and activities, with special emphasis on reflection and sharing.
Theme Time
Theme Time focuses on the creative and analytical aptitudes of the child. Theme Time approaches learning in an integrated manner. This is attained by exploring the environment through the elements of music, art and theatre, which enhance the sensory and cognitive abilities of the child, making learning fun. Stories are often woven in, keeping in mind the concepts dealt on that day. This helps children’s imagination take flight while recapitulating the concepts so that the learning is concertized.
Skill Time
The Skill Time activities give children the opportunity to explore, experiment, draw conclusions and apply concepts learnt in other situations. This helps children acquire skills which are applicable to their Theme Time (as explained above). The skills of numeracy and language which help the child in thematic learning are addressed during Skill Time.
Fun Time
The Fun Time is a consolidated time of 1 ½ hours of activities on saturday, apart from the academic time-table in school, which complements the classroom transactions. The Fun Curriculum is an attempt by Genius’ Planet School to held students discover ‘The Element’ in themselves. It enables investigation, preparation, stimulation, development, co-ordination, experience, sublimation, therapy, expression, communication, recapitulation, celebration and relaxation in the child.
