“The Element is the meeting point between one’s natural aptitude and personal passion. When people are in their element, they connect with something fundamental to their sense of identity, purpose and well-being. Being there provides a sense of self-revelation, of defining who they really are and what they are meant to be doing with their lives. Hence, finding one’s element is essential to one’s well-being and ultimate success” – Ken Robinson
The Element has two main features, and there are two conditions for being in it. The features are aptitude and passion. The conditions are attitude and opportunity. The sequence goes something like this: I get it; I love it; I want it; where is it?
Through Fun time, we strive to inspire children to find the Element for themselves. The programme provides the Opportunity to discover Aptitudes, create Passion and develop Attitude.
The fun Time is a dedicated time of co-scholastic activities each week, comprising performing music and dance, arts, visual arts and sports, apart from the academic time table, which complements classroom transactions. The fun Curriculum provides the students an opportunity to identify and engage with their areas of interest and develop passion in their chosen fields. The programme has a holistic approach and enhances cognitive, aesthetic and cultural skills in our students.
Art and Craft
The art and craft curriculum exposes the students to classical, folk and tribal art forms. It aims at enhancing imagination and art appreciation. Pottery and craft work sessions engage them in exploring, designing and creating independently. For the students, it is a journey both of fun and discovering their aptitude and passion. School manage Art & Craft exhibition after every competition and activity.
Performing Arts
As a collaborative, interpersonal activity, music develops social skills through group performance and composing projects where ideas, instruments and specific skills are shared. The students are exposed to the rich heritage of both vocal and instrumental music.
Dance is the culmination of movement, music, expression, literature, mythology, philosophy, and rhythm. At Genius’ Planet School our intent is to use dance as a tool for enhancement of concentration, mental alertness and physical agility. Different classical and international dance forms form a part of the dance curriculum.
Sports
We, at Genius’ Planet School, believe that sport is serious work. A healthy mind can only reside in a healthy body. Sport teaches the students skills which last a lifetime, like teamwork, sportsmanship, esprit de corps and the critical skill of handling failures positively. At the same time, the objective is that students graduate from school with the knowledge, skills and behavior to be fit, healthy and active for life. The approach for attaining this objective spirals around 5 components called “Five for Life”. These are – cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and body composition. At the Genius’ Planet School, these skills are inculcated through sports like football, kabbadi, Kho-Kho , badminton, cricket, volleyball. The key to achieving excellence in sports lies in integrating it with the regular curriculum. These activities are interwoven into our daily school schedule. Students are given the opportunity to choose one sporting discipline every 6 months which enables them to discover their aptitude and perfect their skills in that particular sport. Once in a year school conduct sport meet to give track and field to our students.
